As reported recently in a story featured on CBS11 News, the report featuring Karen Borta and Stephanie Lucero. It was reported that New Home Sales or (New Construction Home Sales) are down across the region here in the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex.
It was said that there are over 8658 new home available here in the Metroplex, down some 25% from the same time last year. These figures represent a 15 year low here in Texas
The supply of new homes are very tight and many are purchasable before construction is even complete.
According to Metrostudy, Inc. New Home closings were down 12% from July 2010 - June 2011
Activity is still at a depressed level and there are several reasons for the decline, some of the reasons for this decline
- Homebuyer Tax Credit expiring
- Stringent Mortgage Financing
- Foreclosures Competing with new homes
- Consumer Confidence
- Number of local builders have gone out of business
